Distinction is made between cases where someone is looking for relief from serious medical problems or where somebody just wants to relax. Small resorts offer more of a family atmosphere and calmness which is absolutely essential for the efficacy of the cure; larger resorts offer more number of alternatives. The health status, the reason for the cure and the willingness to embrace it, all play crucial roles in the choice of the resort.

In the case of diabetes, joint pain, obesity and gastro-intestinal disorders, respiratory disorders, stress related illness, burnout symptoms, other mood disorders or other diseases, experts recommend the choosing of an Ayurveda resort, either at home  or abroad.

"We send the customer a questionnaire about his health after the booking is done. Of course, there is no obligation to fill it, but we recommend it", said Raymond Seibold of Aytour, Germany's first specialist provider of Ayurveda tours. "The completed form will be sent to the doctor at the booked resort and he will prepare himself in time for the guest. This is especially important if the diagnosis is significant and if the patient is already being treated with medication."

Although Ayurvedic treatments are very efficient and have surprised many guests with their effect in just two weeks, one should not travel with exaggerated expectations. Seibold is realistic about this - "If one has shot down many years in contributing towards his health condition, he cannot expect the Ayurvedic doctors in the resorts to undo this in these 10 days."

And yet there is always surprise and wonder, especially among those who have achieved such a cure for the first time. Those who have had a good experience with this type of cure, continue with it. "Many customers with us or with our colleagues specializing in these journeys, repeat the therapy regularly every one to two years," said Seibold.
